When playing WoW, you have 3 things to contend with:

Movement (moving your character out of AoE or into position)
Casting Spells
Targeting

The default control scheme is crap. Bye.

I’m trying to figure out how to control these 3 things. Playing with a new layout. Having everything hotkeyed, leaving my mouse free to target whatever I need and to use for movement.

I still catch myself clicking on my spells with my mouse button, but I’m trying to train myself not to. In easy fights, I almost don’t need the mouse at all (using wasd to get into position, then cast spells with hotkeys and tab for targeting).

Sadly 30 buttons isn’t enough. That seems a bit insane to me. While its boring to click just a few keys over and over, 30 different spells (during combat, there’s other things like buffs/etc that are not hot keyed because they are out of combat mostly) is pretty nuts.

I’m trying to setup a new layout/UI. The focuses are:
1. All buttons are shortcuts, used on the left hand only, leaving my right hand on the mouse always. And avoiding clicking on spells.
2. Most important things near the middle, least important near the sides.

I guess I have lots of control (even source) over wordpress blog (though little time to play with it) but it seems to me that facebook is just another blog (with gawd aweful games! Stop playing farmville!).

Ran VoA for the first time. Healed.
Very smooth except a wipe when the druid decided to DPS the adds on the first boss.
Second attempt, the OT died, but we were able to heal the MT thru the fight while he tanked everything.
Didn’t get any loot (2 rogue drops, pally and lock).

So, I have a carpet, but not the gold to train the skill necessary to ride it. 3.2 there will be a discount, but i need rep.

Ice crown, howling fnord quests…

So I was trying to run another heroic, but damned if I could find a group for anything. Decided to look for Naxx stuff, but figured it was too late. Found a group, lost the tank and DPS, but finally got the 10 people required and killed some bosses in the spider wing and 1 in the construction wing.

I was a healer so it was pretty easy.

Learned that levitate is very useful for walking over the slime that hits you for 12000 (?) HP if you try to walk through it.

I didn’t get any loot (couple things dropped I could have used), but I had some fun, and learned some of the fights.

Stayed up WAY too late though.
