  • For Sale: Dishwasher, Microwave

Whirlpool Dishwasher, black, model: DU915PWKB0. $200 OBO
Whirlpool Microwave, black, model: GM8115XJB-0. $100 OBO

They both work fine. Professionally uninstalled (by Sears when they installed the new ones, so these are in the garage). Trim kit is included with the microwave.

There’s the oven too (model: RBS305PBD16), but the door met with an unfortunate accident. If anyone wants it free (for parts?), please let me know.

Tchau Link, you will be missed.

  • 360 System Error

Walking around the mall, decided to head to the game store. Wanted to play but:

  • KJam Upgrade

    1. Backup
    2. Installed Windows Mobile Device Center (since I’m using Vista). Connected (I didn’t have a profile) and browsed the device. Copied what I could (some folders had files in use, so I just skipped them; I thought Vista had fixed that copy issue where it runs into a problem and just stops, but seems its still there in this case).
Also backuped the data on the MiniSD card I have in there.

    3. Wipe
    4. Installing a new OS should do that, probably don’t need to do this manually, but its available in the Settings:System:Clear Storage. (Wonder if it would wipe the MiniSD too?)

    5. Upgrade
    6. Need to confirm I already CID unlocked it. I believe I did.

How do I verify if I already CID unlocked it?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=329170 Seems to have a util to do it. Adam suggested I try to flash with Cingular or TMobile and see what that does (if its still locked, the updaters will fail).

      Starting here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Wizard, I need to determine if I have G3 or G4: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Wizard_Versions. I’d say I have a G3:

      IPL 1.01
      SPL 1.06

So, trying http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=249474 to unlock it.

Doesn’t seem to work with Vista.

Trying the HTC new ROM http://www.htcamerica.net/support/8125/software-downloads.html.
      I currently have

      ROM Version: 1.1.9.3
      ROM Date: 9/16/05
      Radio Version: 01.01.10
      Protocol Version: 4.0.13.16
      ExtROM version: 1.1.9.106

So this should be a serious upgrade. I might try the TMobile one at some point, but since I’m with ATT at the moment, makes sense to use this ROM. ATT’s site leads to a dead end as far as finding their ROM:

    7. New OS: WM6 or 6.1
    8. WM6 is not officially supported, but should be available from xda-developers.com.

      XDA Wizard WM6 for newbies

    9. ActiveSync w/ Outlook 2007
    10. Should be fine with Windows Mobile Device Center.

  • New Keyboard/Mouse

So I’m trying to decide what to get.

I like the Natural Elite but its PS2. It has a USB adapter, but its really hit or miss to work properly.

I liked the Wireless Optical Desktop Pro I had at AT&T, but my manager had the same one and I think they fought and I could not work! Missed characters (literally, 50% of what I typed would just not register), mouse would stop working. Had to replace it.

So I got Natural® Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 but that had a flaw as well: the space bar would not go down without serious force if you pushed it from the side, which you did ALL the time because its a split keyboard.

This Natural Ergonomic Desktop 7000 looks exactly like the 4000 keyboard, so I bet it has the same flaw.

So, I might go back to the Wireless Optical Desktop Pro.

I really don’t like Logitech, but maybe I’ll try their Cordless Desktop® Comfort Laser

    Decisions, decisions.

I really should hit the store and try them, but no time. Never any time.

Sunflower seeds (Planters dry roasted) 1/3 cup

  • Vista: Dual Screens

Why the HECK can’t Vista remember the position of my dual screens?
I setup the laptop display on the right, and the external monitor on the left (like the phyiscal locations). I go away (or just lock the computer) and when I unlock it, they are back to being reversed! I have to go into the display settings and change it EVERY TIME! ANNOYING!

Or is this a driver issue?

  • Logitech Desktop: LX310 Laser

    God this thing sucks.

Feels SUPER cheap. The keyboard seems fairly heavy, but the keys are absolute crap. The silly mulitmedia keys don’t line up correctly, just a sad POS.

Yet another different Home/End/Del/Pageup/Page down layout. And the insert key is in the upper right with the printscreen/pause(break) keys.

    It works fine (so far).

  • NAS

    Great review site: http://www.smallnetbuilder.com

I could use http://freenas.org with an old dell server I have.

    Must haves:

    1. RAID 1
    2. The size of the drives should not be limited
    3. Media Server

Do I care about having AD?
Nice to have power management so its not always running 24/7.
I don’t think FTP is important
NFS/CIFS/SMB – Its important to be able to mount it from any OS

  • What I want in a Phone/PDA

    Requirements

    1. Make calls (the k-jam was slow, shesh, even the AT&T Tilt is slow)
    2. Do email – both personal and business
    3. Browse the web – BB doesn’t support crap. IE (even on WinMO 6) is old. Opera is slow.
    4. Address book (sync over the phone network, with Google or Outlook)
    5. Calendar (sync over the phone network, with Google or Outlook)
    6. Task List (sync over the phone network, with Google or Outlook)
    7. Bluetooth: hands free w/ my Jawbone, data xfer.
    8. ssh
    9. Qwerty Keyboard (the AT&T Tilt is mushy, the BB is pretty good).
    10. Big, clear screen
    11. Make outgoing calls hands free (voice dialing).
    12. 3+MP Camera (N90 is Awesome! Tilt is ok. K-Jam is similar in focus, but low on MP)
    13. View images
    14. Play music (BB 8700c is crap! WinMoMedia Player is ok
    15. GPS Maps (Google maps pseudo GPS isn’t too bad. Tilt has GPS, but the update feature is annoying)
    16. Games (though i usually read RSS feeds in my free time)
    17. RSS
    18. 3G (using EDGE now, and ssh is … sluggish to say the least)
    19. WiFi (when I’m at home or some free is availble. Maybe some day the data network will be as fast as wifi)
    20. Alarm (BB is CRAP. WinMo has 5 customizable alarms, quite good)
    21. Real network (I don’t get that MEdiaNet crap from AT&T
